Jute rope is 100% biodegradable and does not harm the environment because it is made of natural jute fiber (the rope is made of the same material as jute fabric).

Therefore, like other products made of jute fibers (e.g. jute string or jute fabric), jute rope may have a specific (technical) oil smell.
